A 16-year-old girl survived an apparent suicide attempt Wednesday with a severe knee injury after jumping 90-feet from the cliff as her mother and a police officer watched helplessly at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro.

A Los Angeles City Firefighters prepare  a girl who allegedly jumped from the bluff along Paseo Del Mar at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro Wednesday afternoon for be hoisted by a City Fire helicopter. Police allegedly tried to talk the suicidal 16-year-old girl out of jumping but were unsuccessful. The girl survived the fall and was transported to a local hospital, where her condition is unknown.
