Docents, volunteers and staff of the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium took their annual whale watching training excursion Monday on board the Voyager out of Redondo Beach Marina and were not disappointed. The group saw 11 gray whales, one fin whale, sea lions , birds and hundreds of dolphins on their 3-hour trip. So far, according to the whale census takers at Point Vicente, 134 gray whales have been spotted off the coast this month which sets a December record for the southern migration which goes from Alaska to Baja California. Voyager Excursions will begin making daily whale watching trips on Saturday, December 31. For more info, go to http://www.voyagerexcursions.com/.
